Maxine is survived by her husband, Wendell of Jefferson; daughter, Cynda (Paul) Duff of Perry; son, Allen (Cindy) of Perry; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Mobley of Ottumwa; and brother-in-law, Clem Evans of Adel. Memorials to the Perry Lutheran Home may be left at Hastings Funeral Home. (Mary Maxine Lindahl), daughter of Raymond Godwin and Velma M. Palmer Godwin, was born August 11, 1928 and died February 7, 2008 at Dallas County Hospital in Perry, Iowa at the age of 79 Years, 6 Months, and 27 Days. Maxine, as she was known as to most people, was born near Bayard, Iowa. She grew up near Bayard in Greene County. After her education, she helped her dad on the farm, actively working in the field. Maxine worked for Garst Thomas sorting seed corn where she met Wendell Lindahl. They were married on October 20, 1950 in Jefferson, Iowa, at the Methodist Church by Rev. Long. They made their homes south of Scranton, north of Jefferson, and east of Bayard. Maxine had always worked hard. She had waitressed at the Bayard Caf, also the Maid Rite in Perry. She had owned the Arcade Caf for two years. Her hobbies were gardening, knitting, and crocheting. Her family cherishes the afghans she made. After Wendell's retirement, in 1988, they bought a motor home. They enjoyed living in Yuma, Arizona and then Mission, Texas. Maxine suffered a stroke and in 1996 her health required that she enter the nursing home. She later moved to The Perry Lutheran Home in 1999. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Virginia Evans. Maxine is survived by her husband, Wendell of Jefferson; daughter, Cynda (Paul) Duff of Perry; son, Allen (Cindy) of Perry; grandchildren, Robert Lindahl, Joshua Duff, Brandon Duff, Nicholas Duff, Holly Bellon, Jody Coenen, and Tami Tabor; great-grandchildren, Caleb Duff, Katelynn Duff, Chayce Coenen, Hudson Bellon, Holt Bellon, Mickie Coenen, Elizabeth Pzanka, Erin Tabor, and Jamie Tabor; sister, Evelyn Mobley of Ottumwa; brother-in-law, Clem Evans of Dallas Center; numerous sisters-in -law and brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
