Hastings Funeral Home in Perry is in charge of arrangements for MaryAnn Pohl, 75, of Perry. MaryAnn died August 17, 2015 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Visitation will be after 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2015 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Celebration of Life Service will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. . Burial will take place 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. MaryAnn Pohl, daughter of Russell Whitecotton Sr. and Lora Ann Brown Whitecotton, was born May 2, 1940 in Granger, Iowa and died August 17, 2015 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 75. MaryAnn grew up in and around rural Granger. She graduated from Granger High School. On June 1, 1959 MaryAnn and Glen Pohl Sr. were united in marriage at the Christian Church in Granger. The couple was blessed with three children Deb, Donna and Glen Jr. MaryAnn worked for Grimes Cannery and at Woodward Resource Center. She loved reading, camping and fishing, but most of all being a mom and a grandma. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Perry and a leader for the Bluebirds & Camp Fire. MaryAnn was preceded in death by her parents, sister Daisy Huggins and brother Lawrence Whitecotton. MaryAnn is survived by her husband Glen Sr., children: Deb Giem (Mitch) of Bakersfield, CA, Donna Pohl of Perry, Glen Jr. (Melissa) of Perry; four grandchildren: Jessie Akers (Katie) of Panora, Tyler Pohl of Lee Summit, MO, Katie Pohl and Jordan Pohl both of Perry, great-granddaughter Addilynn Amaya Grace Pohl; brother Russell Whitecotton Jr. of Illinois; aunt Margaret Gass of Des Moines; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
