Maurice Eldon Wistenberg

Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson is in charge of arrangements for Maurice Eldon Wistenberg, 83, of Jefferson. Maurice died September 9, 2021 at his home. Visitation will start at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 13, 2021 with family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2021 also at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Paton Township Cemetery in Paton, Iowa. Maurice Eldon Wistenberg, son of Paul Alvin Wistenberg and Vida L. Ott Wistenberg, was born March 1, 1938 in Jefferson and died September 9, 2021 at his home in Jefferson. Maurice lived in Jefferson his whole life and attended school there. On August 14, 1971 Maurice and Tamara Lynn Fox were united in marriage at the Methodist Church in Jefferson. Maurice worked for Shriver Construction, Progressive Foundry, Marquart Block Plant in Grand Junction, and for Herb Dicky doing the garbage route. He enjoyed fishing and making his own sinkers. Maurice loved collecting junk, but what he loved most in life was his family. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Vida Wistenberg; sons James "Jim" Wistenberg, Larry Herron and Ray Herron; grandson Jon Herron; sister Carol Wistenberg; brother Dean Wistenberg, and daughter-in-law Mary White. Maurice is survived by his wife of 50 years Tammy; daughter Wende Christiansen and her husband Rich Jr. of Hartley; sister Ruth Spaulding and her husband Jerry of Jefferson; sister-in-law Lois Wistenberg of Jefferson; daughter-in-law Terri Herron of Ohio; nieces Kim Luther of Urbandale and Dawn Muhr of Coon Rapids; great-nieces and great-nephews: Jackson Luther, Aubrey Luther, Hunter Muhr, and Ashton Muhr; other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
