Maxine Coon

Maxine C. Coon, 90, of Winterset passed away Monday, March 10, 2014. Burial will be in Dakota City, Nebraska at a later date. Memorials in her memory may be directed to Middle River Hospice of Winterset. Maxine was born in Walthill, Nebraska on July 11, 1923, the daughter of Russell and Alga (Mills) Huff. She lived most of her adult life in Winnebago and South Sioux City, Nebraska. In 2012, she moved to Winterset to be near her family. Maxine is survived by her son Kenneth (Lynne) Boyd of Winterset; grandchildren, Jonette Kowalik of Bradenton, Florida, April (Lonnie) Kirk of El Paso, Texas, Jason Boyd of Sioux City, and Eric Bethard of Geneseo, Illinois; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua Stough, Darrin Bethard, and Faith Boyd. She is also survived by sisters, Joyce Hughes, Jane Ballard, and Edith Schmelzer; a brother Wesley (Rose) Huff all residing in Arizona; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Ruth Huff; husbands, Harold Boyd and Kenneth Coon.
