Maxine Hart

Maxine Hart was born April 29, 1922 in Madison County, Iowa, the daughter of Mary Bruett Kirby. On December 14, 1940, Maxine married Ivan Hart in Missouri. Four children were born to this union, Larry, Phillip, Neil and Nina. She is survived by her children, Larry Hart and wife, Kaye of Roswell, GA, Phillip Hart and wife, Betty of Rio Rancho, NM, Neil Hart of West Richland, WA, Nina Hitsman and husband, Larry of Des Moines; a brother, Leon Hardy of Des Moines; a sister-in-law, Opal Hart of Winterset; seven grandchildren (Tricia, Julie, Kirt, Kyle, Terron, Chad and Grant); and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ivan; and a grandson, Kris Hart. Maxine was a devoted mother and homemaker, raising her four children. She also worked as a bookkeeper, alongside her husband, when the Hart’s owned the Allis Chalmers Dealership in Winterset and later she worked for NAPA in Des Moines as a bookkeeper. Maxine enjoyed sewing, knitting, and quilting. She liked gardening, dancing and playing cards. Maxine also enjoyed word-finds and playing solitaire on the computer on nights when she could not sleep. Maxine passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines. She was 86. Visitation: A visitation will be held two hours prior to funeral services, beginning at 9 a.m., April 18, 2009 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare. Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare. Memorial: Memorial contributions may be directed to Mrs. Hart’s family.
