Maxine L. Orwan, 88, of Winterset, Iowa went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at the Madison County Health Care System in Winterset. Maxine will be remembered for her loving heart; caring for her husband during his extended illness and also her volunteer work at the hospital and care centers in Winterset. She loved her family very much and took a special interest in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Maxine Luferne Detty was born August 7, 1917 near Afton, Iowa, the daughter of George and Ethel Detty. She was united in marriage to William ‘Bill’ Orwan on May 3, 1935 and to this union two daughters were born, Pat and Sharon. They spent most of their lives in Lorimor, except during World War II when they lived in Omaha, Nebraska. Maxine was a member of the Lorimor Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was later a member of the Word of Life Church of Winterset where she and Bill were involved with the Children’s Church. Lorimor Cemetery in Lorimor, Iowa. Memorial: She is survived by her daughters, Pat Stephens of Lorimor and Sharon King and husband, George of Treynor; eight grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Gordon Detty; two sisters, Enid Oswald and Mildred Smith; a son-in-law, Larry Stephens; two grandsons, Randy Stephens and Monty King; and a great granddaughter, Kelcie Stephens. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a cause to be determined at a later date.
