Maybelle Ilene Stone Wisecup, daughter of Carl A. and Hazel M. Betts Stone was born in Audubon County, Iowa, and died August 26, 2009 at the age of 81 Years, 10 Months 26 Days, at Regency Park Nursing and Rehab in Jefferson . Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Bayard Church of Christ with burial in Orange Twp Cemetery near Coon Rapids. Words of comfort were given by Robert Rogers, minister of the Bayard Church of Christ, Bayard, Iowa. Her casket bearers were Jerry Stone, Roger Stone, Dick Stone, Jack Stone, Donnie Stone, Chester Vaughan, Gary Stone, Larry Stone and Kirk Stone. The pianist was Alice Drake and the music was Beyond The Sunset, One Day At A Time and In The Garden. Her visitation was held at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson from noon to 8:00 p.m. Friday. Maybelle moved to Bayard in 1929, graduating from Bayard High School in 1945. She attended classes at Simpson College and obtained a teacher's certificate. She taught in country schools two years and then in Cooper three years. She began working at the First National Bank and later Peoples Trust and Savings of Grand Junction and Rippey in 1952. She was associated with the bank for 40 years, taking over the management of the Bank on January 1, 1980 until she retired in 1992. Maybelle was united in marriage to William (Bill) Wisecup on June 11, 1950 at the Bayard Church of Christ. They lived in the Cooper and Rippey areas their entire married life of 59 years where Bill was engaged in farming. Maybelle loved her flowers, garden, and doing lots of canning. She was noted by her family for her favorite Bean Soup and Corn Bread and Lemon Pie. She entered Regency Park Nursing and Rehab in Jefferson in February of 2009, and later was in Hospice Care there for her final days. She passed away August 26, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings: Carroll Stone, Lillian Warren, Joseph Stone, Earl Stone, Jean Rinch, Jane Stone (in infancy), Betty Stone, and Junior Stone. Maybelle is survived by her husband Bill Wisecup of Rippey; two siblings Velma Wolf of Scranton and Alfred Stone and his wife JoAnn of Des Moines; sisters-in-law Vera Stone of Bayard and Lois Bannister of Grimes; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials are suggested to her church in Bayard or Regency Park Nursing and Rehab in Jefferson, and maybe left at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson.
