Mayola Wetzel

Mayola Wetzel was born September 26, 1930 in Madison County, Iowa; the daughter of William and Mabel (Gentry) DeBok. Her marriage to Chancey Wetzel took place on March 17, 1952 in Madison County. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1989. She is survived by her children, John Wetzel of Winterset, Connie Songer and husband, Ed of Patterson, and Jim Wetzel and wife, Terri of Winterset; 2 sisters, Leota Lull of Prole and Leona Lyon of Van Meter; 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Mayola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chancey; and 2 brothers, Hubert and Herbert. Mayola was a homemaker and a life-long area resident of Madison County. She enjoyed reading and taking care of her African Violets. Mayola loved her family and greatly enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mayola died Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Winterset Care Center South. She was 78. Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, with family present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., October 17, 2008 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, Winterset. Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, Winterset. Memorial: Memorials may be directed to the family.
