Melanie Gonzalez, age 18 of Perry, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021 in Grimes IA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Perry High School gymnasium in Perry. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to wear face coverings and practice social distancing while attending visitation and services. Memorials will be given to and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Melanie Yamileth Gonzalez was born on November 5, 2002 at Jefferson, IA to Mariano Gonzalez and Herodis Yamileth Iglesias. She graduated from Perry High School. While attending school she worked at the Perry Lutheran Home. She was a member of Fuente De Vida in Perry. She enjoyed helping at church with the children, assisting with the computer, attending Bible study groups, and singing. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Jose Abelino Mejia. Left to cherish Melanies memory are her parents, Mariano Gonzalez and Herodis Iglesias, paternal grandparents, Salvador Gonzalez and Maria E. Mulgado, maternal grandmother, Maria del Carmen Iglesias, and siblings, Jefry Gonzalez, Perry, IA, Anayeli Gonzalez and Mariano Gonzalez, Guymon, OK.
