Melissa "Missy" Grabill

Melissa "Missy" Grabill, age 49, of Adel, IA passed away on March 6th, 2021. A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from 4:00p.m. – 7:30p.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home - McCalley Chapel, with a prayer service following the visitation at 7:30P.M. A funeral service will be held 10:30a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery following the service. Missy was born on July 8th, 1971 to Jerry Xanders and CoAnn Kelly in Des Moines, IA. Missy was united in marriage to Thomas Grabill on May 22nd, 1999, forming their family with their daughters, Lisa and Natasha. Missy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her grandkids were the light of her life. She liked camping, fishing and cuddling her cats. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed it, especially if it involved setting up for an event. Missy is survived by her loving husband, Tom; daughter, Lisa (Wade) Downing; step-daughter, Natasha (Chris) Hergert; dad, Jerry (Myra) Xanders; mom, CoAnn Kelly; sister, Michele Bolton; brothers, Rodney Hopkins and K.C. Kelly; grandkids, Bryer and Gwenivere Downing and Aubree, Zoey, Oliver and Stella Hergert; father-in-law, Oscar Grabill; father-in-law, Robert Carson; sister-in-laws, Cora (Don) Pruitt, Laura (Leonard) Belew, Linda (Larry) Alexander and Kathy Davis and brother-in-law, Dewayne (Endisa) Carson. Missy also has many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her step-dad, Roger Kelly; mother-in-laws, Mary Grabill and Carol Carson; grandparents, Wayne and Maxine Chadwick, Verna (Nelson) Xanders and Glenn "Mike" Xanders; great grandparents, Sylvester and Lavora Sickerson and Frank and Nellie Whetsler; brother-in-law, Jerry Grabill and sister-in-law, Kimberly Carson. Missy had the opportunity to plan her services the way she would like them and also wrote a little note to her loved ones: "I enjoyed spending time with all of my family, being picked on, teased, and scared. Along with all of the nicknames you guys gave me…you know who you are. I enjoyed all of this and will miss it. I will also miss all of you and I love you all so much" In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Network (PANCAN).
