Meredith Anne Easter passed away at her home Tuesday, May 5th at the age of 83. She was the daughter of Myles Young III and Veva Breeding Young. Meredith attended Winterset High School, graduating in 1955. She was active in music and the drum majorette for the Winterset High School marching band. From high school, she attended Simpson College graduating in 1959 with a degree in Music. While in college, she was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority and the 1958 Homecoming Queen. Following her graduation from Simpson College, she taught two years of music at the Patterson school. She was the music director for the First United Methodist Church for over 60 years, playing the organ and directing the church choir and children’s musicals, as well as taught Sunday school and led many high school youth groups . She also played for countless funerals and weddings throughout her lifetime. She finished her music career sharing her talents at the Winterset Foursquare Church. She also taught private piano and voice lessons for over 60 years, touching the lives of hundreds of children and adults each year. She was married to William K. (Bill) Easter on July 5, 1959. To this union was born Myles William (Brenda), Melody Anne (Jeffrey Clutter), and Brian Charles (Melodie). Her joy was watching her children and grandchildren in all of their activities. She and Bill were always there. Meredith is survived by her sister, Susan Robinson. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren: Myles, Angelica, Zac, Morgan, Levi, Jocelyn, Gabrielle, Elijah, Ellie and Ethan; as well as 2 great-grandchildren: Maxwell and Hendrick. Some of her happiest times were spent with her family, friends, music students, and attending sports and music events. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Myles Young III and Veva Breeding Young; her husband, William K. Easter; grandson, Zachary Joseph Easter; and sister, Vanna Lee Cook. Following CDC recommendations on large gatherings, funeral services for Meredith will be private. Live web streaming will be available on her obituary tribute wall beginning at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2020 at www.caldwellparrish.com. All are welcome to line the route to the cemetery following the private funeral service at the New Bridge Church. (The procession will go east on Jefferson, south on 8th, east on Court, south on 4th). A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Friday, at the New Bridge Church in Winterset; family will not present but the public is welcome to attend with social distancing monitored by the funeral home staff.
