Merle Arthur Adamson

Merle Adamson, age 78 of Perry, passed away Monday February 14th, 2022, at his home in Perry surrounded by his family after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 17, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry. A private family graveside will take place in the Violet Hill Cemetery. Memorials will be given to Merles family and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Merle Arthur Adamson was born August 8th, 1943, at his home in Greenfield Iowa to Ira and Nora Adamson. He graduated from Orient-Macksburg. He married Donna Jean Ramsey August 9th, 1964, in Adel Iowa. To this union was born a son Michael and a son Jim. In December 1967 Merle and Donna moved to Perry Iowa. Merle began working for Oscar Meyer in 1964 and continued there with IBP and Tyson Foods retiring as a general supervisor in 2007 after 43 years of services. Merle was very involved in his son's activities coaching and never missed one of their activities even when the rare occasion he called in sick to work. When the boys were younger you could usually find Merle in the backyard "volunteering" to be all time quarterback or pitcher during the neighborhood football and baseball games. Merle was also very involved in CB radios serving as President of the Central Iowa CB Club. Merle had friends he routinely talked to all across the United States and several countries through out of the world. He was a very avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan. As soon as the temperature turned warm enough you would find Merle at the golf course. Merle took great joy in being with his grandkids and their activities. Merle was proceeded in death by his parents, his two sisters Margaret and Rosena, and his son Michael. He is survived by his wife Donna of 57 years, his son Jim (Amy), his brother Tom (Marlene) and his grandkids Molly Howell (Nick) and Michael.
