Michael John Sitroneto

Michael J. Sitroneto passed away on October 15, 2023. He was born on September 17, 1960 to John and Mary “Aiello” Sitroneto in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Dowling Catholic High School in 1979.

Michael dedicated 22 years of his life to Wheeler LBR until they closed. Later in his career, he brought his expertise to Younkers.

Beyond his professional life, Michael was a gifted musician, playing the drums for the iconic band, The Last Shades of Dawn for 17 years. His remarkable talent led to his induction into the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, an honor that recognized his extraordinary contribution to the world of music. He also drummed with the TruRocKru for several years.

Michael was an avid fan of Notre Dame Football and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sister Leisa; brother John; niece Sashia; great niece Riah; uncle Fr. Anthony Aiello; aunts Loretta Aiello and Sally Ades. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 1:00-2:30 pm with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:30 pm at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale. A burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Anthony Catholic Church.
