Michael "Mike" Draeger

Hastings Funeral Home in Perry is in charge of arrangements for Michael "Mike" Draeger, 67, of Perry. Mike died December 19, 2016 at the Dallas County Hospital. No services are scheduled. Michael Alfred Draeger "Mike", son of Milton Albert Draeger and Jean Day Draeger, was born June 28, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri and died December 19, 2016 at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry, Iowa at the age of 67. Mike grew up in Missouri and graduated for O'Fallon Tech, then to the University of Nebraska in Omaha. On June 8, 1968 Mike and Georgia Szwargulski were united in marriage. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force. The couple was blessed with three children Kenneth, Paul and Teresa. Mike worked for Carlson Systems and Sears before owning his own Embroidery Business from 1990-1995. When he lived in Des Moines he worked at the Valley West Mall doing custom sewing. Mike was a good artist. He enjoyed painting, playing chess and cribbage. Mike was also a private pilot and loved to fly! He was a member of Scottish Rite, Waveland Park Lodge, Mason & Shriner and Home Lodge 370 as master. Mike loved spending time with his grandchildren and his dog Shelby. He was preceded in death by his parents Milton & Jean Draeger; son Kenneth Draeger and brothers Richard Day & Mitch Draeger. Mike is survived by his wife Georgia Draeger of Perry; son Paul Draeger (Charlotte) of Pleasant Hill; daughter Teresa Dunn (Andrew) of Spokane, WA; five grandchildren: Christopher, Kenneth & Nicholas Draeger and Rory & Sean Dunn; sisters Janet Schomaker (Tommy) and Judy Bextermueller (Jerry) both of Portage des Sioux, MO; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
