Michael Patrick Richardson

Visitation with the family present will be at 9:00a.m. Monday at St Patrick Church, Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10;00 a.m.. Michael Patrick Richardson, 55, of Granger, formerly of Perry. Michael did August 13, 2014 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday August 18, 2014, St. Patrick Catholic Church, Perry, Iowa with family present after 9:00 a.m. till time of services. Burial will be at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Perry, Iowa. He is survived by his son Lance Michael Richardson of West Hartford, CT; sisters Susan Lynch of Rocky Hill, VT and Deborah Gay (Mike) of Windsor, VT; and step-mother Janet Richardson of Perry. Memorials in Michael's name may be left at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Michael Patrick Richardson, son of Robert Harry Richardson and Cecelia Ann Tottenham was born May 2, 1959 in Des Moines, IA and died August 13, 2014 Des Moines, IA at the age of 55 years. Mike, as he was lovingly known, moved with his family to Connecticut when he was preschool age. The family moved back to Iowa in 1974. Mike was a gifted craftsman, skilled carpenter, machinist and mechanic. In the late 70's he worked at the Woodward Resource Center. Most of his working career was in Connecticut where he had very responsible positions at Pratt Whitney Aircraft and Electric Boat Company, as well as other Defense Contractors. Mike was also a certified asbestos abatement technician. Unfortunately, he was very seriously injured in a car accident which made his recovery and life extremely difficult. He enjoyed his time spent in the Rocky Mountain West with his sister Deborah and her family. Mike was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Cecelia; his brother Billy; his sister Kathleen; and uncles George Meusburger and John Glass. He is survived by his son Lance Michael Richardson of West Hartford, CT; sisters Susan Lynch of Rocky Hill, VT and Deborah Gay (Mike) of Windsor, VT; and step-mother Janet Richardson of Perry. Mike is also survived by his aunts JoAnn Meusburger of Maxwell; Debbie Richardson of Ames and his uncle Larry Richardson (Joan) of Alpine, CA; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
