Michael Stoppel

Michael Dennis Stoppel, age 58, of Adel, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at MercyOne, West Des Moines, Iowa. Mike was born March 9, 1963, to Duane and Marie Stoppel of Adel, Iowa. He graduated from Adel-DeSoto High School in May of 1981. After High School, Mike earned an Associate’s Degree in Human Services from DMACC. He also earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Upper Iowa University. Mike loved attending the worship services at his church and involvement with his church provided him with pleasure. He enjoyed spending time with his family and cherished time spent with his lifetime friends. He spent many years dedicated to serving his parents as they aged, even as his own health began to decline. His efforts allowed his Mom and Dad to remain in their own home and enjoy their retirement years. Mike’s own health challenges gave him the ability to empathize with others and provide unconditional love and support. He is preceded in death by his dad, Duane Stoppel and his nephew, Erik Stoppel. Mike is survived by his mother, Marie Stoppel; brothers, Karl Stoppel and Alan (Shelly) Stoppel; nephew, Cody (Ashley) Stoppel, their children, Braelyn and Conner Stoppel; and other family and friends. A graveside service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery at a later date.
