Mildred Louella Hansen was born on September 29, 1921 to Robert and Lilian (Wienert) Krager on a farm South of Holstein and died Sunday, January 11 in Adel, Iowa surrounded by her family. She attended Lone Star Country School in Battle Township and graduated from Holstein High School in 1939. She did house work in various homes until 1942. She was united in marriage to Rolyn Hansen of Holstein in Yakima, Washington, on July 15, 1942. In addition to being a housewife on the farm near Cushing and then East of Holstein, Mildred worked three years for the Iowa Public Service and also part time as an accountant for Royal Scot Sales and Lora Miller. Mildred was a member of the Holstein United Methodist Church, Battle Merry Maids, and Dessel Schmidt Legion Post #225 in Holstein. As a younger lady, Mildred enjoyed riding her pony, Bubbles, around the farm. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and playing cards with the girls. Mildred and Rolyn enjoyed many years at the lakes with their family and friends and were also a well-known dance couple at area ball rooms. Mildred is survived by her three children Karen (Terry) Rolles of West Des Moines, Bonnie (Marion) Conover of Adel, and Larry (Vickie) Hansen of Frankfort, Illinois, six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her one brother, Eldon. Memorial services will be 1:30 P.M. Monday, January 26 at the Holstein United Methodist Church with the burial at Holstein Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 12:00-1:30 P.M. at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Holstein United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left on this site.
