A service for Mildred May Trotter was held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation was one hour prior to the service. Pastor Charlene Wolfe of the Hope United Methodist Parish in Grand Junction provided words of comfort. Casket bearers were: Brent Halling, Kevin Heinz, Orlin Heinz, Joshua Heinz, Charlyn Andrews and Melody Dittmer. Marjorie Vannatta was the pianist and Brends Roberts was the soloist. Hymns chosen were Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art and Precious Lord Take My Hand. Interment took place at Valley View Cemetery in Perry. Mildred May Trotter, daughter of Richard Kesselring and Alta Weigel Kesselring, was born April 3, 1914 in Guthrie Center, Iowa and died January 26, 2015 at the Perry Healthcare Center at the age of 100. Mildred grew up near Guthrie Center in Guthrie County. She attended rural schools and Guthrie Center High School. Mildred and Garrell "Red" Trotter were united in marriage on August 26, 1933 at the Guthrie Center Baptist Church. The couple was blessed with a daughter Dorothy Mae. In 1945 the family moved South of Dawson, before moving into Dawson. In 1971 they moved to a farm across from the cemetery and in November 2000 she moved to town. In 1952 Mildred started working for Farmers Grain Elevator and worked there for 23 years, then she worked at ALCO for 8 years. She lived at the Perry Healthcare Center for the last five years. Mildred enjoyed being around family and friends, crocheting and playing cards. Mildred was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dawson, Helping Hand, Hummingbird Club, and We 12'. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Alta Kesselring, husband Garrell "Red", brother Kenneth Kesselring, and sisters Jessie (in infancy) and Margery Sheeder. Mildred is survived by her daughter Dorothy Heinz of Panora, IA; grandsons Kevin Heinz (Betty) of Minburn, IA; Orlin Heinz (Kerri) of Perry, IA and granddaughter Charlyn Andrews of DeSoto, IA; sister Barbara Garloch of Guthrie Center, IA; two great-grandchildren Melody Dittmer (Tyler) and Joshua Heinz (Lacey); two great-great grandchildren Avanelle and Charles; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends. Memorials in Mildred's name may be left at the funeral home for later designation by her family.
