Mildred Wilson

Mildred Gayle (Midge) Wilson, 92, of West Des Moines, Iowa passed away Friday, May 5, 2023 at MercyOne Hospice in Johnston. Midge was born in Dexter, Iowa on September 20, 1930 to Harry and Lulu Wykoff. Midge married Les Wilson Jr. in Des Moines, Iowa where they worked hard and shared 68 wonderful years. Along the way, Midge and Les raised three children, Janice, Les III and Steve.

Midge worked in the insurance industry her entire career for both large and small companies throughout Des Moines. After retirement, Midge and Les moved to Lake Panorama for several years so they and the entire family could enjoy the lake. Midge also loved camping, square dancing and playing cards especially Hand in Foot. She and Les spent many years camping and square dancing with friends throughout the Midwest and beyond in their motorhome. Finally, Midge and Les settled into a community in Pharr, Texas where they owned a home and danced for nearly 30 years.

Midge was preceded in death by the love of her life, Les Wilson, Jr.; her beloved daughter Janice; brothers William, Robert and Howard; and sisters Elizabeth, Evelyn, Hazel and Ella Mae.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister Joann; sons Les (Patty) Wilson III and Steve (Pam) Wilson; son-in-law Rich Lovell; grandchildren Shawna, Kyle, Stephanie, Amber, Tyler, and Caitlin; 14 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Midge has requested a simple graveside service to be attended by her family members only.
