Mira Korpanty, 89, of Winterset died Monday, November 30, 2015, at the Winterset Care Center South in Winterset. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Mass will be offered for her intention at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset. Burial of the cremated remains will take place at a later time in New York. Memorials may be directed to the Winterset Care Center South Activities Fund and online condolences may be left for the family at ochiltree.com. Mira Christina Helena Kayser, the daughter of Wilhelm and Rose (Becker) Kayser, was born September 21, 1926 in Kaiserslautern, Germany. She immigrated to New York when she was 13 years old and graduated from high school in Mt. Vernon, New York. Mira was united in marriage to Richard Korpanty in December of 1947 in Mt. Vernon, New York. Mira was a longtime employee of the Exxon Corporation where she did various duties including translation. She concluded her working career as an office manager for a clothing import business. Mira was an avid reader who also enjoyed shopping. She loved to travel, especially to Germany to visit her relatives, but above all else, Mira cherished the time she was able to spend with her children and grandchildren. Mira is survived by two children, Susan Paduano of San Mateo, CA, and Eric (Linda) Korpanty of Adel; three grandchildren, Brendan Korpanty, Chelsea Korpanty, and Peter Vincent Paduano; one great grandchild, Sophia Paduano; nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Peter Paduano; and brother, John Kayser.
