Mona Rae Sukovaty

Mona Rae Sukovaty, daughter of George Gilbert Green and Flora Margaret Blackwood Green, was born March 1, 1934 in Okay, Arkansas. Mona and her family moved to California where she graduated from South Pasadena High School in 1948. She moved to Iowa and went to Iowa Central Community College. On January 31, 1953 she married the love of her life Bobby Eugene Sukovaty, in California. The couple was blessed with a daughter Vikki, and two sons Doug and Gib. The family moved to Scranton in 1955 and then to the farm outside of Scranton in 1958. Mona worked as an activity director at Cedar Lane Estates, In home health care, and the most important job of all taking care of her family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and especially spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mona was a member of the Ladene Club in Scranton and the Faith Baptist Church in Carroll. She passed away at her home on July 24, 2022. Mona is preceded in death by her parents George and Flora, and her husband Bobby Eugene. She will be dearly missed by her daughter Vikki Sukovaty Subbert (Michael) of Scranton, her sons Doug Sukovaty (Rosie) of Jefferson, and Gib Sukovaty (Missy) of Scranton, seven grandchildren: Alicia Patrick (Addison) of Carroll, Amanda McDonald (Catlin) of Booneville, Mississippi, Zach Sukovaty of Scranton, Brooke Naef (Allen) of Port Orchard, Washington, Travis Sukovaty (Shelby) of Enumclaw, Washington, Rob Whitver, and Samantha Hill; fourteen great-grandchildren: Ryker, Brysen, Payxton, Dillion, James, Ben, Imani, Abbie, Collin, Hunter, Sophie, Mia, Paisley, and Porter, other relatives and many friends. Visitation was held from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with family present from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson. Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2022 also at the funeral home. Pastor Jay Chapman of the Faith Baptist Church in Carroll provided words of comfort. Casket bearers were: Vikki Sukovaty Subbert, Michael Subbert, Doug Sukovaty, Rosie Sukovaty, Gib Sukovaty, and Missy Sukovaty. Honorary bearers were: Alicia Patrick, Amanda McDonald, Zach Sukovaty, Brooke Naef, Travis Sukovaty, Rob Whitver, Samantha Hill, Ryker, Brysen, Payxton, Dillion, James, Ben, Imani, Abbie, Collin, Hunter, Sophie, Mia, Paisley, and Porter. Megan Chapman was the musician. Songs chosen were The Old Rugged Cross and I Have Decided To Follow Jesus. Burial took place at Franklin Township Cemetery in Cooper. Following the services at the cemetery was a luncheon at the Greene County Fairgrounds Clover Hall in Jefferson.
