Morse McKee, Jr, age 67, of St. Charles, died Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 31 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset with burial and military honors to be held in the Leon Cemetery at Leon. A visitation with family present will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, December 30 at Ochiltree’s. Memorials may be directed to the family and on-line condolences may be left for the family at ochiltree.com. Morse Dale McKee was born September 13, 1946 to Morse Dale and Twyla (Hubbard) McKee in Leon, Iowa. Morse grew up in Garden Grove and married his wife of over 46 years, Pamela Ann Smith, on December 12, 1964 in Indianola, Iowa. She preceded him in death on January 22, 2011. He enlisted in the United States Air Force serving during Vietnam and retired from serving in the Air Force after 20 plus years. Later he worked at the Main United States Post Office in Des Moines for over 20 years serving in various rolls throughout his career. Morse loved guns and motorcycles also enjoyed golfing and fishing. He is survived by his mother, Twyla McKee of Russellville, AR; three children, Rodney (Linda) McKee of Missouri; Robert (Mandy) McKee of Underwood, and Carla (Brian) Swanson of Winterset, 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Marvin (Marcella) McKee of Van Wert, Barbara (Bob) Glenn of Russellville, AR, Pat (Roy) Smith of Boss, Missouri, Charlotte (Lee) Hardy of Powell, Wyoming, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Morse McKee, Sr. and his wife, Pamela.
