Funeral services for Eileen Mae Essing were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church in Perry, Iowa. Pastor Mark Holmes of the Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church provided words of comfort. Casket bearers were: Lanny Staples, Steven Essing, Doug Hanson, Keith Killmer, Jon Marckres and Nathan Staples. Music was provided by Don and Dalayna Beattie and Dalayna was the Soloist singing "In The Garden". Congregational Hymns chosen were "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace". Interment took place at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa. Eileen Mae Essing was born March 24, 1933 near Woodward, Iowa to Gladys Marie Killmer and Ernest John Bauman and died October 12, 2013 at Adel Acres in Adel, Iowa. Eileen grew up on a farm near Woodward, Iowa and attended rural school in Woodward until she was 15 when the family moved to Boxholm. Eileen then graduated from there in 1951. On April 16, 1971 she married Roy Essing at the Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church in Perry and the couple have resided in Perry their entire married life. Their marriage included Roy's children Bret and Sherri and the couple later had daughter Lori. Eileen worked as a secretary for the Equitable Life Insurance Company and also was Deputy Clerk in the Boone County Treasurer's Office. She also worked as a secretary for Wiese Industries and later Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church. Eileen enjoyed crocheting, working in her garden and flowers and especially her cats and dogs. Eileen was a member of the Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church of Perry. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Roy of Perry; daughters Lori Eiteman (Jamie) of Perry and Sherri Aiken (Pete) of Manhattan, Kansas; one son, Bret Essing (Tammy) of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters, Miranda and Samantha Essing; three grandsons, Jeremy Lawton (Yvonne), Josh Lawton (Haley) and Joel Lawton (Madisen); one great-granddaughter Addilyn and seven great-grandsons: Clayton, Justin, Justus, Trenton, Jacob, Parker and Brentley; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. www.hastingsfh.com
