Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson is in charge of arrangements for Iris "Sue" Kennedy, 68, of Grand Junction. Mrs. Kennedy died at her home on Thursday March 28, 2013. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Jefferson. Following the service a lunch will be served at the church with burial afterwards at the Cottonwood Cemetery near Lake City. Visitation will be at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson, Monday noon to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.WORDS OF COMFORT Rev. Stringer was born on May15,1944 in Lake City and died on March 28, 2013 at her home in Grand Junction. Sue attended school at the Jefferson High School. Sue married Paul D. Bishop in September 1959 and later married Joseph F. Kennedy on November 22, 1975. Sue worked in the healthcare field as a CNA for many years and was retired. Sue enjoyed bingo, camping, card and computer games, playing the lottery and traveling. Sue was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe, her infant brother Roger and two step-sons: David and Paul Kennedy. Sue is survived by her daughters; Barb Newton, Betty Dykes (Jim) and Brenda Kennedy (Patrick Thompson), all of Grand Junction and her step-daughter Christine Wright (Terry) of Woodward. She also is survived by her son Bill J. Bishop of Churdan and her brother Ivan Ripley, Jr. (Sue) of Scranton. Her grandchildren include Chad, Adam, Brian and Danny Newton, Christopher Bishop, Casey Kennedy, Brook Bishop and Ryan Sutherland. Her great grandchildren are Makenzie, Kaylee, Issac and Jacob Newton, Jessica J. Miller and Kolin Le, nephews Michael and Scott Ripley and nieces Angie Stanley and Jennifer Ripley.
