A Celebration of Life service for Lesa Kim Werner was held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2013 at Crossroads Church in Perry. Visitation was after 1:00 p.m. with family present 7-9 p.m. on Thursday at the church. Hastings Funeral Home in Perry was in charge of making arrangements. Rev. Rick Gates provided words of comfort. Honorary bearers were: Destiney Werner, Akasha Titchener, Stone Bohall, Justus Bohall, Dakota Hoffman, Cheyenne Hoffman, Jacob Hoffman, Tyler Hoffman, Alexandria Miller, Kyle Miller, Lacy Eiteman, Brady Eiteman, Skyler Hike, Kamdyn Hike, Ashton Hike, Wayne Burkhart, Shea Burkhart and Austin Burkhart. Songs chosen were: Holes In The Floor Of Heaven, Baby Boy, I'll See You Again, and A Mother Like Mine. Following the service at the church was a luncheon at 203 Cartwright Street in Rippey, Iowa. Interment took place at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa. Lesa Kim Werner, daughter of Mary Elaine Covey and Douglas James Tallman was born on May 12, 1966 at Ogden, Utah and died on June 25, 2013 at Perry, Iowa. Lesa was 47 years, 1 month and 14 days old. Lesa grew up in Ogden, Utah and was a hard-working mother who raised her children by herself. Lesa moved to the Des Moines, Iowa area in the early 1990's and married Wayne Werner in 1996 and the couple made Perry their home. Lesa worked as a waitress at the Pilot Truck Stop in Des Moines and attended Des Moines Area Community College where she earned her degree as a Phlebotomist. She then was employed at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines until she retired due to her health. Lesa loved crocheting and crafts including making jewelry. She loved old country music and baking. Mostly she loved her family and her grandchildren. She was loved by many as Mom. Lesa was preceded in death by her grandparents and sister-in-law Sheila Werner. Lesa is survived by her husband Wayne, son Douglas Burkhart (Ashley), daughters Krystal Mann (Kevin), Meagan Burkhart, all of Perry; Valissa Werner of Des Moines, Jennifer Spooner (Matt) of Perry, Heidi Miller of Rippey, and Kisha Niebuhr (Brett) of Perry, her mother Elaine Covey and her husband Max of Ogden, Utah and her father Douglas James Tallman also of Ogden, Utah; Grandchildren: Destiney Werner, Akasha Titchener, Stone Bohall, Justus Bohall, Dakota Hoffman, Cheyenne Hoffman, Jacob Hoffman, Tyler Hoffman, Alexandria Miller, Kyle Miller, Lacy Eiteman, Brady Eiteman, Skyler Hike, Kamdyn Hike, Ashton Hike, Wayne Burkhart, Shea Burkhart and Austin Burkhart; brothers Jim Tallman of Yuma, AZ, John Tallman (Rachel) and Clinton Tallman (Diane) all of Ogden, Utah; sister-in-laws Carol Brown (Dwight) of Altoona and Brenda McLuen (Denny) of Perry; aunt Carolyn Tallman and uncle Norman Holden (Karen) of Ogden, Utah.
