A service for Margaret Nicolaisen "Peggy" was held 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2014 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation was after 12:00 noon on Saturday with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev Ken Bose of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Perry provided words of comfort. Honorary bearers were "Her Grandchildren" JoLynn & Mike Carter, Jennifer & Erik Shelburg, Dawn Sloss-Dunker, Mike & Tiffany Sloss, Abbie & John Guizetti and The Late Jeff Sloss. Big Band was the music selected. Interment took place at Valley View Cemetery in Perry, Iowa. Margaret Louise Nicolaisen "Peggy", daughter of Harry A. Newbury and Nellie M. Leonard Newbury, was born June 22, 1926 in Des Moines, Iowa and died November 20, 2014 at the Perry Lutheran Home. When she was just 4 years old her family moved to Perry, Iowa and she lived in that same house for 84 years. Peggy attended country schools. She was a free spirit, strong willed and a loyal person. Peggy enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking and sharing. On November 8, 1945 Peggy was united in marriage to Hans Lawrence Nicolaisen. The couple was blessed with three children Lawrence "Larry", Margaret L. "Mickie" and Janiece. Peggy loved playing cards and enjoyed teaching children. She worked at a Bakery in the 60's. Her children and grandchildren were her world. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, husband Hans Nicolaisen in 1999, daughters Margaret L. Kanaely "Mickie" in 2004 (Tom), Janiece Sloss in 2012, grandson Jeff Sloss and seven brothers & sisters. Peggy is survived by her son Larry R.and Linda Nicolaisen of King George, VA; five grandchildren: Jolynn Carter (Mike), Jennifer Shelsburg (Erik), Dawn Sloss-Dunker, Mike Sloss (Tiffany) and Abbie Guizetti (John); nine great-grandchildren: Colt Shelburg, Cassidy Shelburg, Aden Guizetti, Oliver Guizetti, Armane Sloss, Savannah Sloss, Eddie Carter, Danny Carter and Nicolas Carter; son-in-law Tom Sloss of Perry, IA; other relatives and many friends.
