Nancy Gorham

Nancy Marie Gorham, 77, of Earlham, Iowa, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2025, at Mercy One Des Moines Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 12, 1947, to Maurice Eugene and Doris Marie Read. She was the youngest of two children, Dennis Read being her older brother.

Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She shared a beautiful life with her husband, Butch Gorham, and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. 

Nancy was a proud and loving mother to her sons, Fredderick and Jeffrey, and a wonderful mother-in-law to Julie. Her heart was fullest when surrounded by her grandchildren—Mychal, Dylan, Brett, and Alex—whom she adored beyond measure. 

In recent years, she found a new source of happiness when Dylan and wife Dominique gave her a great-granddaughter, Faith, whose presence brought her endless smiles and warmth.

Nancy’s love extended beyond her immediate family to her god-granddaughters, Cassie Van Langen and Jessie Baker, not to mention god-grandson Keith Bychinski whom she treasured dearly. She had a gift for making everyone feel like family, and her warmth and kindness touched all who knew her.

She was a devoted member of the Early Chapel Christian Church who helped with charity events and served as a Deacon for many years.

She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering love, and the care she showed for those around her. Nancy’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will forever cherish her memory.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held in late April.

Nancy’s love and light will remain with us always. She may be gone, but shall never be forgotten.
