Nathan Timothy Hoffman

December 6, 1974 — June 12, 2023

Nathan Hoffman, 48, of Waukee, passed away from a heart attack on June 12, 2023. He was born on December 6, 1974, to Timothy Hoffman and Gwynn (Grout) Christiansen.

Nate attended Adel DeSoto Minburn High School where he graduated in 1993. He was an excellent student and made the honor roll all eight semesters. Following his graduation, Nate pursued higher education at the University of Northern Iowa.

Nate worked at Home Depot and later became an apprentice with the Plumbers Union. For more than 10 years Nate worked at Costco where he excelled and was voted Employee of the Year.

Nate will be remembered for his gentle nature and generous heart. A classmate described him as a teddy bear with a sneaky ninja sense of humor and silliness that never failed to bring laughter and joy to those around him.

One of Nate’s favorite things was to play pool with his grandpa, Jack, his father, Tim, and his brother-in-law, Tom. Nate also enjoyed swimming, cooking, and spending time on his grandparents' farms. He loved all animals, especially his cat, Mae West.

Nathan is survived by his parents, Tim (Elaine) Hoffman, and Gwynn (Jame) Christiansen; sisters, Kerry (Tom) Ausmus, and Katie Hoffman; grandparents, Jack and Althea Hoffman; and nephews, Ben and Sam Ausmus. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Loren and Lois Grout; step-father, Mike Zeisler; and uncle, Gary Grout.
