Niada Mae Honn was born April 19, 1930 in Leon, Iowa; the daughter of Arthur and Helen (Adair) Honn. Later her mother married Bunk Roland who helped raise her. Her marriage to Jack McFarland took place in 1946 in Missouri and to this union eight children were born. Niada was a loving mother who spent most of her working career raising her children. She was also employed by the Winterset Care Center North as a dietician for ten years. Niada died Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the Madison County Health Care System. She was 79. Niada loved fishing and camping. She was a Yahtzee Champ as well as being a great Scrabble player. She also loved crosswords and she was a great cook. Niada is survived by her eight children, Pamela Sato (David) of Lake Elsinore, CA; Michael McFarland of Winterset; Jerry McFarland (Debbie) of Winterset; Renee' Klingaman of Winterset; Ricky McFarland (Mary) of Des Moines; Becky McFarland of Winterset; Geoffrey McFarland (Lisa) of Winterset; Rodney McFarland (Jennifer) of Winterset; three sisters, Yvonne Andrew (Frank) of Grand River; Sarah Ann Riggs of Norwalk; Marian Grimm (Dean) of Van Wert; 24 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; parents and two sisters, Bobbi Parrish and Iona Ruth Taylor. Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare. Service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the First Baptist Church, Winterset. Memorial: Memorials may be directed to the family in Niada’s name.
