Nina M. Grandquist (Zimmermann)

Nina Margaret Grandquist (nee Zimmermann), 29, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 21, 2018. Her infectious smile and dazzling blue eyes will be greatly missed by all of us. She loved cooking, concerts, the farmer’s markets, and having fun wherever family and friends gathered. Nina was born on January 11, 1989 in the Russian Republic of Karelia. In 2001 Nina, along with Sergei, made the Zimmermann family complete through the blessings of adoption. Nina graduated from Dowling Catholic High School in 2008 and worked in customer service. She and Teddy were married on October 1, 2016 and became inseparable until her death. She is survived by her husband, Teddy Grandquist, her parents, Ann and Kurt Zimmermann, her brothers Thomas Woodard and Sergei Zimmermann (Kayla), her grandparents, Sandy and Terry Battani, her grandmother, Judith Zimmermann, her mother- and father-in-law, Theresa and Ted Grandquist, sister-in-law, Maggie Grandquist, her aunts and uncles, Terry and Chris Battani, Jon and Kathy Battani, Brian and Erica Zimmermann, and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Dennis Zimmermann. A visitation service in memory of Nina will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, from 4:00-7:00pm and her funeral service on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 10:30am. Both services will be at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 8301 Aurora Avenue, Urbandale. Memorials in memory of Nina can be made to AHeinz57 Pet Rescue or to the family for a future designation.
