Norm Bircher

Norm Bircher was born October 29, 1949 at Storm Lake, Iowa, the son of Fredrick and Jeanette (Christiansen) Bircher. He graduated from Sac City High School. His marriage to Beverly Whitney took place at Winterset on December 30, 1989. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Bircher of Winterset; his mother, Jeanette Bircher of Storm Lake; four step children; Tim (Denise) Scheuermann; John (Brandy) Scheuerman; Joy (Dan) Schraven; Billy (Alexis) Conant; a guardian son, Taylor Scheuermann all of Winterset; four brothers, Steven (Debbie) Bircher of EauClaire, WI; Neil (Denise) Bircher of Van Meter; Dan (Melody) Bircher of Sheridan, WY; Scott (fiancee', Marcy) Bircher of Kansas City, KS; 11 step grandchildren; six nephews and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father and a stepson, Terry Scheuermann. Norm worked for the Kirkpatrick Meat Locker for 20 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was recently baptized on Easter 2007. He was a lifetime bowler and member of the United Bowlers Conference. He was also an avid sports fan, especially enjoyed Atlanta Braves Baseball and Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball. Norm also enjoyed walking. Norm died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Westbridge Care Center, Winterset due to complications from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). He was 58. Visitation: 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, with family present to receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. January 27, 2008 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, Iowa. Service: 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Winterset, Iowa. Memorial: Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
