Services for Norma Aileen Thede were held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson. Visitation was Sunday after 12:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson. Rev. Timothy A. Jones of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson and Rev. Alan Miller of the Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden provided words of comfort. Honorary casket bearers were Norma's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Casket bearers were: Scott Thede, Roger Klocksiem, Jay Thede, Heath Thede, Jeremy Thede and Mike Smith. Recorded music chosen was Swin Low Sweet Chariot, Old Rugged Cross, On Eagles Wings, Psalm 41 and Abide With Me. Following the service was a luncheon at the church. Norma Aileen Thede was born January 2, 1924 to John Kopaska and Nora Moorhead Kopaska in rural Guthrie County and died June 11, 2015 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Carroll. Norma graduated from Rippey high school in 1941. In June of 1944 Norma married Raymond C. Thede and from this union bore four children; Gary, Glennis, Butch and Greg. While raising her family Norma lived in Midleton, Churdan, Des Moines, Glidden and finally Carroll. She was a sweet and loving mother. Norma enjoyed spending her time sewing, and painting ceramics, planting and caring for flowers, 4 H Club Leader and was also an incredible cook. She was a charter member of the G.A. (Get Acquainted) Club, a volunteer worker at the church as well as being a bible school teacher. Norma was proceeded in death by her parents, son-in law, Rollie Klocksiem, her brothers Alvin, Orlo, Virgil and Kenneth Kopaska. She is survived by her children Gary (Sue) Thede of Jefferson, Glennis Klocksiem of Glidden, Butch Thede of Churdan and Greg (Nancy) Thede of Badger ; her grandchildren Kari Fagen, Scott Thede, Roger Klocksiem, Rhonda Smith, Angie Roper, Jay Thede, Heath Thede, Jeremy Thede and Jessie Thede; great-grandchildren Colton Thede, Hadley Thede, Alex Fagen, Aaron Fagen, Cody Klocksiem, Zacharay Klocksiem, Kristin Klocksiem, Wyatt Klocksiem, Courtney Cloninger, Levi Cloninger, Jordan LeRoy, Mary Jane Roper, Ellie Roper, Joe Thede, Jon Thede, Jacob Thede, Arianna Thede, Abby Boyd, Abry Thede and Kaysen Thede; great-great-grandchildren Owen and Hannah Klocksiem; and her siblings Norine Wilson and Jack Kopaska. The family would like to give special thanks to the hospital and nursing staff at St. Anthony's Hospital and the staff at Carroll Health Center.
