Norma Conrad, 84, of Earlham, died Thursday, September 7, 2017, at her home. A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, September 10, at the Earlham Friends Church. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 11, at the Earlham Friends Church with burial to follow in the Earlham Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Earlham Friends Church and/or Earlham Public Library and online condolences can be left at ochiltree.com. Norma Pauline, daughter of Mark Willard and Harriett Ethel (Couch) Welch, was born January 26, 1933, in Winterset, Iowa. She graduated valedictorian from Earlham High School in 1951. Norma was united in marriage with Eugene Conrad on June 3, 1951, at the Methodist Church in Earlham. Norma was a homemaker who raised four daughters and also enjoyed her 27 years working as a librarian at the Earlham Public Library. She was an avid reader and a patient teacher, helping all her children and grandchildren with any school subject. Norma was a talented pianist who taught her great granddaughters to play. She was a nurturer who loved her family more than anything. Norma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who cherished the time spent with the ones she loved. Norma is survived by four daughters, Karen (John) Gullic of Capitola, CA; Susan (Ed) Bentler of Earlham; Vicki (Jim) Griswold of Earlham; Sharon Burch of Palco, KS; seven grandchildren, Jessica (Scott) Cutting; Adam (Pam) Griswold; Melissa Morrison; Mark Griswold; Amy Thompson; Gentry Griswold; Brittany (Shawn) Aldrich; nine great grandchildren, Austin and Clay Griswold; Ashlynne and Brooklyn Cutting; Tayden Thompson; Tristan, Bentley and Ella Aldrich; Addison Halamar; sister, Sharleen (Bob) Fricke; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Chuck Gonseth; extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene in 2015; two grandchildren, Michael and Vanessa Morrison and great grandson Beau Thompson.
