Norma L. Smith was born August 29, 1930 in Dearborn, Missouri, the daughter of George and Mercedees (Middleton) Green. She moved to Lorimor from Missouri in 1942 and graduated from Lorimor High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to Wesley C. Smith on June 19, 1948 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Norma was a homemaker and was dedicated to raising their four children, Patty, Marion, Marvin, and Janell. She also worked at the Lorimorian Newspaper for a time, the Lorimor Café, Montgomery Ward Catalog Store in Winterset, and Delta Manufacturing in Lorimor. Survivors include her husband, Wesley of 59 years; her four children, Patty Koob (Bill) of Lady Lake, Florida, Marion Smith (Mary) of Lorimor, Marvin Smith (Roxanne) of Lorimor, and Janell Chenoweth (Dennis) of Afton; a sister, Nellie Wenzel of Mesa, Arizona; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George Ed Green and Harold Green; and a sister, Jean Robb. She was baptized in the Lorimor Baptist Church where she lead music and singing for 35 years. She attended the Church of God in Lorimor and was a member of the Kasson Friendship Club. Norma enjoyed collecting figurines. Norma passed away Monday, November 19, 2007 at the Madison County Health Care System in Winterset. She was 77. Visitation: 9:00 a.m. until service time, Saturday, November 24, 2007 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, Iowa.
