Norma Oropeza

Norma Castro Oropeza, daughter of Julio Castro and Lucy Hernandez, was born May 1, 1931 in New York City. Norma was adopted and with her new family she moved to Puerto Rico. She got her bachelors degree from the Presbyterian School of Nursing. Norma met a Navy man in Puerto Rico and in 1952 they were united in marriage and moved to the United States. She worked as a registered nurse until retirement. Norma liked reading, quilting, and gardening. She loved to dance and made wonderful Spanish food. Norma was a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church in Orlando, Florida. She passed away on January 5, 2023 at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry, Iowa. Norma was preceded in death by her biological parents, her adopted parents, first husband Edward John Cordrey, second husband Guillermo Oropeza, daughter Maria Victoria, and son Mark William Oropeza. She is survived by her children David, Catherine, Wayne, Scott, and Michael; grandchildren Amy Cordrey, Sarah Marie Cordrey, James Cordrey, Robert "Nathan" Landrum, Joel Kurtinitis, Christopher Kurtinitis, Dillon Ricci, Nicki Ricci, Kyle Ricci, Kahlanii Ricci, Mark William Oropeza, Natalie Oropeza, Piper Oropeza, Jasper Oropeza, and Mara Oropeza; many great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Visitation with viewing was held on Sunday, January 15, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry.
