Norman was born July 5, 1933 in Charles Mix County, South Dakota, the son of Ernest and Anna (Jurczewsky) Bartunek. He married Janice Overholtzer on April 27, 1963 and to this union were born two daughters, Cheryl and Tina. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a farmer for many years. Norman was a member of the VFW Post #1842 of Winterset. He liked to fish and enjoyed playing cards. Norman is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl Carpenter and husband, Roger of Hanover Park, Illinois and Tina Bartunek and friend, Sloan Thompson of Winterset, Iowa; one brother, Wilbur Bartunek and wife, Ida of Tucson, Arizona; one sister, Mildred Biesman of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; six grandchildren, Stacey Gibson and husband, Bob, Jason Rinkert and fiancé, Meg, Jerod Carpenter, Justin Carpenter, Brian Carpenter, and Brett Carpenter; and two great-grandchildren, Shane and Blake Gibson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Brian Bartunek, a brother, Gary Bartunek, and a brother-in-law, Bud Biesman.
