A service for Norman Eldon Edmondson was held 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Bouton, Iowa. Visitation was after 1:00 p.m. Sunday with family present from 2-4 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Rev. Max Phillips provided words of comfort. Honorary bearers were: Steven Greimann, Ryan Purviance, Darrell Edmondson, Jim Edmondson, Jeff Edmondson, Joe Edmondson, Mark Edmondson and Jerry Draisey. Casket bearers were: Craig Edmondson, Brandon Purviance, Adam Greimann, Cal Linnenkamp, Micah Wahl and David Criksena. Virginia White was the organist. Congregational songs were Amazing Grace, In The Garden and It Is Well With My Soul. Interment took place at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Following the service at the cemetery was a luncheon at the Christ Lutheran Church in Bouton. Norman Eldon Edmondson, son of Ralph Edmondson and Alberta Waldron Edmondson, was born on March 16, 1934 in Perry, Iowa and died January 3, 2013 in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 78. Norman lived in Perry his whole life. He graduated from Perry High School in 1952. After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy and was aboard the USS Dixie as Machinist Mate First Class. On November 8, 1958 Norman and Edna JoAnne Nicolaisen were united in marriage. They were blessed with a son Craig and daughter Cathy. Norman enjoyed the outdoors where he would fish, walk through the timber looking for mushrooms, and walk the railroad tracks. He worked for Ace Hardware, Perry Milk Products, and then at Meadow Gold for 35 years until he retired in the spring of 1995. Norman is preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Alberta; wife Edna; brothers Lewis "Jim" and Jack Edmondson. Norman is survived by his son Craig Edmondson (Julie) of Boone; daughter Cathy Greimann (Steven) of Perry; eight grandchildren: Ryan Purviance, Michelle Benton (Brody), Brandon Purviance (Jamie), Rachel Edmondson, Emily Edmondson, Adam Greimann, Michelle Erickson, and Caren Greimann (Micah); ten great-grandchildren; brother Darrell Edmondson (Bev) of Perry; special friend Charlemagne Cirksena; sisters-in-law Katie Edmondson of Perry and Marilyn Edmondson of California; Gertrude (Ray) Shorey of Peoria IL; Martha Mickelson of Glidden; Betty Nicolaisen, of Perry; brother-in-law John (Betty) Nicolaisen of Omaha, NE; numerous nieces & nephews; other relatives and many friends. www.hastingsfh.com
