A service for Norman Jon Kiefer was held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson. Visitation was after 1:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Father Jeff Schliesman provided words of comfort. Casket bearers were: Philip Stevens, Adam Kiefer, Robert Harrison, Darwin Wetzel, Alan Wetzel and Dennis Moore. Recorded music selected was Amazing Grace. Interment took place at Richland Township Cemetery in Bagley. Following the services at the cemetery was a luncheon at St Josephs Church in Jefferson. Norman Jon Kiefer, son of Virgil Kiefer and Leone Harkin Kiefer, was born March 29, 1944 in Jefferson, Iowa and died at his home in Canon City, Colorado on February 1, 2015 at the age of 70. Norman grew up around the Jefferson area on his family farm and was drafted to the Army in 1965. While in the Army he was stationed in Liberia, Africa and was honorably discharged in 1967. Then, on August 16, 1967, he married the love of his life, Debbie Moore. Together they had three daughters, Sheila, Brenda and Kristie. Throughout his life, Norman worked many different jobs. He worked for Greene County Road Department, a Greene County Jailer, Greene County Ambulance Service and at Ryan Furniture until he moved to Canon City, Colorado. While in Canon City he worked at Fremont Furniture till the day they closed. Norman loved going on motorcycle rides with friends. He also loved horses, bow hunting deer, reading western novels, woodworking, playing cards and was a member of a Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Richard. Norman is survived by his wife, Debbie, three daughters, Sheila Stevens (Kenny) of Scranton, Brenda Harrison (Robert) of Longmont, Colorado, Kristie Kiefer of Silver Cliff, Colorado, two sisters, Mary Jo Burchfield (Joe) of Dana, Kathy Jennings (Dean) of Council Bluffs, four grandchildren, Sara Stevens, Philip Stevens, Melissa Stevens, all of Scranton, Adam Kiefer (Jennifer) of Longmont, Colorado, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
