Nyleve Taylor

June 24, 1943 — September 9, 2018

Nyleve Mae Taylor (June 24, 1943—September 9, 2018) was known for her warm, kind, loving personality. After enduring a prolonged season of health difficulties, she has gone home to be with the Lord and loved ones who have passed before. Nyleve was born in Des Moines, IA to parents Harrie and Margaret Caster. She attended Roosevelt High School (class of 1961) and one day when her classmate Fergus offered to give her a ride home, they soon became high school sweethearts. They were married in 1963, and she attended Drake University for two years. Nyleve and Fergus enjoyed antique automobiles and raising Boston Terriers. Her real love became family after adopting Stephen in 1974 and Lisa in 1977. As a family they lived in various Iowa cities, including Storm Lake, Cherokee, Newton, and Eldora. A homemaker when the children were younger, Nyleve attended every extracurricular sports event and band concert. As the kids grew older, Nyleve worked many years as an administrative assistant. She was a 50-year member of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron in Newton and Eldora. She was always active in church, and a close relationship with her mother Margaret. She was an avid crafter, including scrapbooking, quilts, and counted cross-stitch. Yet her love of family remained central. She knitted many Christmas stockings for friends and family. She delighted in welcoming son-in-law Greg Hebert and daughter-in-law Susan (Howell) Taylor into the family. Her joy multiplied with the addition of each grandchild, including Tatum (11), Collette (8), and Phoebe Hebert (5); and Shepard (6), Shiloh (3), and Sabel Taylor (1). It was a real highlight visiting their families in Vermont and Virginia. Nyleve was gifted at making friends in any setting, and enjoyed a special relationship with her “sister” Sandy Morris. Her smile and hugs will be missed and her memory will be cherished.
