Opal Maxine Clark

Opal M. Clark passed away at the age of 97 on June 9, 2016 at Kavanagh House. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2016 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 12 at the funeral home where family will greet friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Opal was born to Frank and Hazel Hunter in Farnhamville Iowa on March 14th, 1919. The family moved to DeSoto, Iowa in 1929 where she attended school and graduated. She met Ronald Clark and they were married in 1939. They raised five children in rural Van Meter. Opal was a homemaker, waitress at Tiny’s Horse and Buggy and served meals at the Congregate Meal Site in Waukee. In her free time Opal enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking. She also made and put together wooden rocking horses for her grandchildren. Opal is survived by her son Terry (Dee) Clark, daughters Patti Clark and Tina Putnam,and daughter in law Judy Clark. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren: Rick, Brian and Dan Clark, Dan Mendenhall, Mike Connelly, Dana Cohoon, Todd Prunty and Charlie, Sam and Michelle Putnam. Opal is also survived by 18 great grandchildren. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her oldest son Ron Clark, her daughter Cheryl Connelly, granddaughters Mary Ann Clark and Lisa Connelly and grandson Jeff Clark.
