Orlene was born to Virginia Harriet (Dumford) and Herbert Gross Woodruff in Santa Monica, California. After graduating from University High School, she married Glen Perreira Neal in 1957. They had four sons and after selling their business moved from the Los Angeles area to Nipomo, California where they ran a real estate office for several years until Glens death in 1996. Orlene and Jerrold Jon Narland wed December 1998 in Morro Bay, California and in a year later, they moved to Winterset, Iowa. From 2000 until 2006 they operated an antique shop on the Winterset square and then took over the Winterset U-Haul dealership. Orlene had a life-long love of quilting, presenting her hand done quilts to family and friends as quickly as she completed them. She served as treasurer for the Winterset Art Center from 2002 until 2012 and was active in many of the Art Centers events. A member of St Pauls Lutheran Church for the entire time she lived in Winterset, she greatly enjoyed the friendship of the congregation. A cheerful attitude, ready smile and loving heart made friends of anyone she would meet. Orlene is survived by husband Jerrold of Winterset, her brother Gary Ray Woodruff, sons Michael Patrick, Glen Timothy, Kevin Christopher all of California and Dennis Eric of Colorado as well as three daughters-in-law, two stepdaughters, a stepson, twelve grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. The family will have a private service in Des Moines before interment and service in California. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Orlenes name to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF), Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Winterset Art Center.
