Orville Jacobsma, 76, of Winterset, died September 1, 2012 at the Winterset Care Center North. Sadly, Orville died Saturday morning when his beloved wife, Janess' funeral was to be held so her services were postponed and a service for both Janess and Orville has been scheduled as follows: Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Monday, September 3 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset. A visitation with family present will be held from Noon until service time on Monday. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, September 4 in the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery, Ocheyedan. Memorials may be directed to the Grace Christian Academy in Winterset. Orville was born July 2, 1936 in Clear Lake, South Dakota, the son of Horton and Arta (Franken) Jacobsma. Orville graduated from Hartley High School in 1955 and was later drafted into the United States Army serving in the Berlin Conflict. His marriage to Delores Granstra took place in June of 1960 and Delores died on September 1, 1970. Orville then married Janess Wolcott Jessen on March 15, 1974 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Janess died on August 29, 2012. Orville was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and brother who always enjoyed time spent with his family. During his working career, Orville drove truck and was a farmer. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church and in his free time, he enjoyed restoring antique tractors. He is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Reusch (Mark) of Williamsburg, KS; a son, Daniel Jacobsma of Pasadena, CA; four step-daughters, Julie Panther of Donnellson; Lori Martin (Scott) of Silver Creek, MS; Celeste Jessen (Ernest Hanson) of Florence, MS and Angela Jessen (David Olson) of New London. He is also survived by two sisters, Ruby Brunk (Larry) of Ocheyedan; Ruth Alsum (Nelson) of Randolph, WI; a brother, Verlyn Jacobsma (Shari) of Ocheyedan; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Beltman of Sheldon; Irma Jacobsma of Hartley; a brother-in-law, Vertus Frick of Ankeny; six grandchildren; Jonathan and Wesley Reusch, Jessen Panther, Valerie Jessen, Samantha Geers and Kevin Jessen, and four great grandchildren: Haylie and Christopher Wrage and Shyla and Layla Geers. He was preceded in death by his parents, his spouses; a step son-in-law, John Panther and four siblings, Irene DeYoung (John); Harvey Jacobsma; Marvin Jacobsma and Blanche Frick.
