Oscar (Jerry) D Grabill, 75, of Des Moines, IA passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at UnityPoint Health - Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2024 at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory in Adel, IA. A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 9, 2024 at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory in Adel. Interment will be held at the Elmwood Cemetery in Minburn, IA. He was born August 8,1948 in Bethany, Missouri to James Archie Grabill and Erma Grabill.
Oscar served in The United States Army from 1965 to 1969. Where he then settled in Des Moines for the rest of his days. He worked at Firestone for 10yrs and drove a semi for the next 35 years. He met and married the love of his life, Mary Riesberg, on August 2nd 1986. To this union, Oscar brought 4 children. He loved spending time with his family and friends, from cookouts to watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs or the Miami Dolphins. He knew no stranger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Mary, son, Jerry Grabill. great granddaughter, Abbigail. brothers; Richard Grabill, Harvey Grabill, Bert Payne, Garland Payne, Stacey Payne, Darrel Payne and Billy Joe Payne. sisters; Vera Pruitt, Freda Hadley, Viola Hickman, Virginia Herger, Sylvia Blitz Woodard, Becky Beaver, and brother in laws Larry, Dan Riesberg of Carrol
Oscar is survived by his children; Thomas Grabill of Adel, Linda (Larry) Alexander of Redfield and Kathy Grabill Davis of Des Moines. His Grandchildren; Natasha (Chris) Hergert of St Louis, Mo. Lisa (Wade) Downing of Panora, Heather (Jimmy) Roosa, Justin Alexander, Tyler (Amanda) Alexander, Allexys Alexander, Liam Alexander, all of Redfield. Jake Davis of Des Moines, Josie Thompson of Dexter, David (Dawn) Lee of Des Moines and Kabra Grabill. He has 21 great grandkids, 2 surviving brothers; Cecil (Myrna) Grabill of Seattle, Washington. William Grabill of New Jersey, sisters in laws, Sandy Riesberg of Des Moines, Jeanette Liddicoat of Phoenix, AZ, Judi (John) Gunderson of Woodward, and Carol (Ken) Stubbe of Glidden.
