Pamela Ann Ellis, 75 of Redfield passed away peacefully on May 27th, 2023 at MercyOne Medical Center surround by her family. She had battled renal failure for approximately 3 years, having dialysis 3 days a week. This took a major toll on her but she fought like a trooper. We did find out just before her passing that she was diagnosed with an aggressive lung cancer.
She was born Pamela Ann Hale on January 28th, 1948 in Sikeston, Missouri to Geraldine Reva Allen and raised by William K. Smith. She spent much of her childhood living in Linden, Iowa. On August 5th, 1964 she married Charles Keith Ellis and in that union 3 daughters were born. Laurie Lea on January 28th, 1965, Stacey Lynn on November 25th, 1968 and Shelly Ann on April 9th, 1971.
Pam was a homemaker, raising their 3 redheaded daughters and taking care of the of farm, especially the livestock. She loved animals and enjoyed raising sheep, goats, cattle and hogs. She even detasseled in the late seventies with her good friend Gayle Davis. There are many summers spent with her best friends Gayle Davis, Rita Wasson, Jacki Coldiron, as well as her sister Peg (the original Chicken pluckers) butchering chickens or freezing sweet corn. In 1989, she went to work at Prairie Meadows Casino as a server. But sadly after 25 years of marriage she and Charlie divorced, she moved to Stuart. She worked part-time as a bartender at Ruby’s and Johnie’s Tap. Eventually she went to work at VALO and moved to Menlo where she lived for close to 20 years. After 10 years at VALO, she spent her last years for work at Adel Acres as a cook. She eventually moved to back to Redfield in 2011 to live closer to her sister Peg.
Pam enjoyed raising Australian Shepherds and Mini Dachshunds, she truly loved her dogs. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an awesome cook, and truly loved to shop, she was a pro at finding bargains. For several years going to her brother Pat’s in Missouri on Labor Day weekend spending time with her sister and family there: playing horseshoes, eating pie, and just enjoying a day or two away. She found her faith in God in the latter part of her life, attending church, Bible study and helping the ladies with Bible school as well as cooking for after service luncheons. She truly loved her time with the ladies at church.
Pam was preceded in death by her father, mother, recently her sister Peg Bowman (whom she missed so very much), her twin grandsons Timmy & Tommy and her beloved mini dachshund Lou.
She is survived by her daughter Laurie Allsup(Larry) of Menlo, Stacey Shannon(Brian) of Redfield, Shelly Ellis(Doug) of Fontanelle. Brother Pat Hale of Craig, Missouri. Her brother-in-law Darrell Bowman. Her grandchildren Stephanie, Matthew, Amberly, Billy, Tyler, Anna, Joseph, and Lane. Her great grandchildren Brylan, Trenton, Aubrey, Ailyn, Riot, Ronan, Nora, Malakhi, Gretalyn, Archer, Thora, Ayla and Charlee Grace (born the day Pam passed).
