Patricia Ann Carroll

Patricia was born June 4, 1926 in Racine, Wisconsin to Thomas and Agnes (Dempsey) Simonds. Shortly after she was born they moved to Galena, Illinois where she grew up and graduated from high school. Patricia graduated as a Registered Nurse from Loyola University in 1947. On September 16, 1950 she married George Carroll in Galena, Illinois. Patricia worked as a RN at Iowa Methodist Hospital and was one of the first nurses in the ICU. She then worked at Charter Community Hospital and worked her way up becoming the Director of Nursing. Patricia was an avid gardener and had flower and vegetable gardens at her home in Johnston. She was also interested in birding. Patricia passed away September 28, 2016 at the Calvin Community at the age of 90. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 2 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory in Urbandale. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 3 at Assumption Catholic Church in Granger. Burial will follow at the Beaver Cemetery. Patricia is survived by her husband, George; sons, James (Connie), Charles and George (Karen) Carroll; grandchildren, Anthony, Jason, Todd, Sean, Brett, Martha and Georgia Carroll and two great grandchildren, Alizabeth and Emerson. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Carroll and sister, Carol Hauser.
