Patrick J. Morris of Winterset died Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was 81. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 12, at Ochiltree Funeral Service, with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 13, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset. Memorials may be directed to the St. Joseph Catholic Church and online condolences may be left at ochiltree.com. Patrick James Morris was born in West Des Moines, Iowa on June 14, 1937, to Elvin J. and Mary D. (Halligan) Morris. He graduated from Dowling High School in Des Moines in 1955, and his marriage to Patricia Finchem took place October 20, 1956, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines. Pat worked for the United States Postal Service and retired after 38 years. After his retirement he worked as a starter at the Des Moines Golf Country Club as well as selling real estate at Madison County Realty. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and was active in the Jaycees and the Winterset Lion’s Club. He loved to golf, enjoyed woodworking, painting and playing the piano. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. He also enjoyed coffee at Montross and playing 3-coin. He is survived by his wife, Patty Morris of Winterset; five children, Kevin Morris of Des Moines, Kristin Morris (Dennis Devitte) of Las Vegas, NV, Kelly (Deb) Morris of Prole, Kyle Morris of Grimes, Kerry (Lacie) Morris of Granger; a sister, Mary Jo (Bruce) Stephenson of Colfax; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Higgins, Amber (Marcus) Smith, Jill Gentile, Thomas Gentile, Chelsea Morris (Chris Brown), Kyla Morris and Dylan Morris (Lizzy Gallardo); three great grandchildren, Aiden Smith, Olive Grace Brown, Axel James Morris; extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nancy (Harold) Earp and brother, Jack (Carol) Morris.
