Patrick David Lantz, age 62, of Adel, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, February 15th, 2022. A visitation will be held Monday, February 21, 2022, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home - McCalley Chapel in Adel, from 5:00 P.M. to 8: 00 P.M. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 22nd. Burial will take place after the service at Panther Creek Cemetery, west of Adel. Patrick, known lovingly as Pat by many, was born in Redfield, IA, on November 23rd, 1959 to Gloria Daugherty (Griffin) and David Lantz. Pat attended school in Redfield, but started working at the Redfield Elevator at a young age, before working in many restaurants, including Tiny’s Horse “N” Buggy, Perkins, and The Villa, among others, before pursuing his dream of opening his own restaurant, “Patrick’s” in 1995 with his love, Lisa Mickael. Pat poured his heart and soul into cooking and creating a successful and well-known family business for the last 27 years. In earlier years, Pat enjoyed spending time with his kids, Justin (Rug man) and Elisabeth (The Shell). He loved fishing, teaching Justin how to fish, and working on cars. He could fix anything he put his mind to, and even when it appeared there was no way he would get it back together, he always did. He enjoyed rocking out to his favorite bands and singers, so loud you could hear it before you even pulled into the driveway. In more recent years, after a long day of work, you’d find Pat sitting in his “shop” with his dog Kernel, watching the news with a Winston in one hand and a Mountain Dew in the other. Pat was blessed with four beautiful grandchildren who called him Papa. He would spend time with them almost daily. He loved playing with them and watching them grow, and they were his absolute pride and joy, and one of the main things he would talk about even if you didn’t ask. Pat’s life will continue to be lived on through his children, his grandchildren, his family, and the many people who loved and cared for him. Although he had a funny way of showing it, when he loved, he loved with his entire being, and if you ever were able to experience that then please consider yourself lucky. Left to cherish his memory are his father, David Lantz (Linda); his love of 32 years, Lisa Mickael; his 2 children, Justin Lantz (Kari) and Elisabeth Mickael; his two step children, Melissa Mickael and Justin Mickael (Kady); his four grandchildren, Charlotte, Violet, Beckett, and Elsie; his seven siblings, Shelia Lopez (Dave), Curt Lantz (Deb), Penny Lantz (Gary Carnine), Stu Lantz, Sarah Lantz, Lisa Lantz (Scott Bassford), and Dustin Lantz (Cristin); and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mom, Gloria Daugherty (Griffin); nephew, Dagan Dyson, and great nephew, Jackson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
