Pauline Josephine Greiner

Pauline Josephine Greiner, daughter of Joseph Kastner and Marie Poschel Kastner, was born February 14, 1919 in Yale, Iowa and died August 5, 2007 at the Senior Suites of Urbandale in Urbandale, Iowa at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 21 days. Pauline graduated from Yale High Sschool and then from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the Greene County Hospital for manh years. On September 4, 1942, she was united in marriage with John Greiner at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. They were parents of three children; Linda, Susan and MIchael. The couple made their home in Jefferson after John's service in the U.S. Army was completed. After John died in 2002 she moved to Urbandale to be near her family. Pauline enjoyed reading, crocheting, and gardenting, but her main love was her family. She also enjoyed camping and was a member of the Greene County Campers. Pauline was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church for 60 years and a member of the Guild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, and infant brother, brother Ernie Kastner and sister Marie Hirschberg. Pauline is survived by one son, Michael and his wife Jane; two daughters, Susan Greiner-Glas and her husband Frank, and Linda Freeman and her husband Wayne; 7 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Laura and Amy Glas, Mallory and Jonathan Greiner, Kathleen Freeman and Kimberly Streeter and husband Jerry; two great-grandchildren, Shane and Gillian Streeter; sister, Martha Peel of Perry; sister-in-law, Wilma Kastner of Perry; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
