Pearl E. Lancaster

Pearl died Friday, August 29, 2014 in Winterset. She was 88 years old. Pearl loved giving to others and continues to give back by having her body donated to Des Moines University. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Blair Chapel near St. Charles. She was born on December 12, 1925 and was raised on farms around Carlisle, Iowa where she attended high school. Pearl was very talented as she enjoyed teaching adult education entailing cake decorating and leather crafting. She loved gardening and giving her vegetables to friends and neighbors. Pearl retired from US West at 70 years old. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Violet (Custer) Manson; a sister, Joan Stahlman and her brother, Walter Manson. She is survived by a sister, Mae Wells of Des Moines; her son, Thomas Lancaster of St. Charles and her daughter, Marcia (Stuart) Thompson of St. Charles. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly.
