Peggy Jean Wilson

Funeral services for Peggy Jean (Shirley) Wilson, 84, of Perry will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will start one hour prior to the service. Peggy Jean (Shirley) Wilson, daughter of Aaron Samson Shirley and Rosa Bell Smith Shirley, was born March 18, 1938 in Ridgely, Tennessee. Peggy graduated from Lake County High School in 1956. She married John Edward Wilson on May 7, 1977 in Weatherford, Texas. The couple was blessed with a daughter Theresa. Peggy worked as a CNA in Weatherford, Texas and as a waitress. She enjoyed gambling, pull tabs, and lottery tickets. Peggy and her family moved to Perry, Iowa where she started working at Perry Manor as a CMA. She liked going on motorcycle rides with John, fishing, and camping. Peggy was a fantastic cook. She liked writing poems, coloring, and drawing. Peggy died November 15, 2022 at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry. She is preceded in death by her parents; son Thomas Ogden; sisters: Dorothy Owen, Louise White, and Brenda Depreist; and brothers: Unifay Shirley, Aaron Shirley Jr., and Jerry Lee Shirley. Peggy is survived by her husband John of Perry; daughter Theresa Salts (Kendall) of Perry; grandchildren: Andrew Wilson, Cheyenne Salts, Sandra, and Lisa; three sisters: Martha Jo Montgomery (David) of Bogota, Tennessee, Carolyn Quillens of Richland, Mississippi, and Patsy Mealer (Alton) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; other relatives, and many friends.
